I want to photograph an imagined piece of artwork.  Diamonds on the soles of my work boots.
11/11/08
I wake up an hour before my alarm will ring.  Katie and I are in a parking lot.  She is near the car.  I am stand under an awning on a sidewalk near a cement pillar.  Behind me is a large glass window.  Two Ladies hands were wilted.  Their arms extended.   One beauty bed and three barber chairs were occupied.  I could hear scissors sheering as a lock of a Blonde curl drops to the salon floor.  Aged Asian hands apply revolution red lacquer on 3/4 inch of acrylic and keratin.
It was a gray day.  Hiking towards me, I see a man caring what looked like a chainsaw but was really an automatic rifle.  He uncovered the barrel by taking off an orange plastic safety sheath.  I flattened my back against the pillar and he opened fire.  "Do you want to see this place shoot up?"  He shouted "This will be better then Columbine."
A middle aged man crumbles down only feet from me.  He was reaching for the salon door and now he is a holy bloody mess.  I meet Katies eyes from across the open parking lot.  We make a run toward my black Subaru.  We are both followed by a stream of bullets.
He faces the salon and shatters the window with ammunition.  I watch Katie lean from the drivers seat as she unlocks the passenger door.  My stomach and knees were touching and I braced myself, waiting for the windows to shatter.  It was as if we were in a hail storm on the side of a mountain.
Katie starts the car and begins to drive both of us hunched down.  I try to dial 911 but for some reason my fingers couldn't push the right buttons.
